by Aaron Boone The average golfer has a reservoir in their mind of images, feelings, sensations, ideas, etc. of their golf game. This reservoir will keep a golfer right where they are in skill level and this is what a handicap is all about, it is the average you as a golfer. So then how does a golfer ever break out of this mold? It is not easy if not impossible when most golfers never do anything to change this reservoir that controls the golfer. What do you think the reservoir of a good tour pro consists of? Probably many memories of winning, long drives, pressure situations where the pro did well. All of this together keeps the pro doing well on a consistent basis. If the tour pro allows something to change lets say the memories, feelings, idea of how he normally hits a driver then he just may change his consistency with the driver. If this pro starts to hit more shots off the tee into the woods, this will become part of his reservoir and he may start to consistently perform to this level of hitting more tee shots into the woods. This is how slumps start and how golfers stay the same average golfer for a life time. Most golfers begin to play golf and begin to fill their reservoir with images, thoughts, feelings and sensations. Before long the reservoir is full. The golfer is now going to perform to this level for a lifetime if they do nothing to change what is in their reservoir. When a pro fills their reservoir they fill it with only things that are efficient, correct, positive and perform well. They then learn to maintain this for years of good performance. Look at Tiger Woods, he has really only filled his reservoir with positive productive thoughts, feelings, memories, etc. from the beginning. This is because he had a solid golf improvement plan like my 180 Degree Golf System. It is no wonder he is the best he had a solid plan. This is why it is so important to learn to play golf correct from the beginning with a professional instructor and a solid golf improvement system. I have seen this with my wife. She has advanced very well because she is learning the correct swing from the beginning. It has been amazing how she has progressed and it has been a much more fun beginning for her than the typical path a beginner golfer takes. So what are you doing to change what is in your reservoir? If you say you read golf books and try golf tips all the time then you are on the wrong path. You are not alone since this is what most golfers do. Here is what a golfer gets when there is organized lessons with a very good instructor and a golf improvement system: 1. There will now be new feelings, thoughts, images, etc. put into the reservoir that are better and will replace what is there. For example if the instructor changes the grip and setup to a better position the ball flight may change from a slice to a fade. The golfer will be replacing all the bad feelings, thoughts, etc. about being a golfer that hits a big slice to a golfer that hits a nice controlled fade. This replacement in the reservoir will not happen overnight but eventually the old bad stuff will leak out and be replaced by the new good stuff. 2. The confusion about the golf swing that fills the reservoir with frustration will be replaced with no confusion, knowledge about the golf swing and what makes their swing work. The golfer will be so much more knowledgeable about the swing because they now know what it feels like to do certain things correct. For example: I have taken the club away a certain way for about 15 years now. I took a lesson with my instructor who knows a lot about the golf swing. I have no doubt he must understand the correct take away since he has worked with many tour pros and has been taught by one of the be teachers in the world. I have viewed my old backswing on video and I have known for years it is not correct. Over the years I have tried different recommended techniques from all the great golf books with no luck in changing by backswing. I have tried it all. After my lesson the other day this was the main swing change we worked on. He positioned me in the correct backswing positions so I could see and feel it. I was able to watch it on video and I gained a great understanding and feeling for what I needed to do with the backswing. This was the first time I have ever felt like I knew exactly what I needed to do with my backswing. The only way I could of achieved this was with my instructor. Like I said I have tried all the drills and tips to get my backswing on track but it never worked. Only after my instructor spent an hour on it do I now have no doubt what I need to do. I can now practice and video myself knowing exactly what I need to do with my backswing. Also knowing exactly what it should feel like helps a lot. As you can see there is no confusion with the backswing now. I know exactly what to do. Since I am practicing correctly and positively I am filling my reservoir with great thoughts, feelings, positive confidence, and proper feel for the backswing. All of this positive stuff is replacing the years of confusion, poor confidence and bad feelings about my backswing. I now see myself as a golfer with a solid backswing that can hold up on the course. I have hope that I will soon have a backswing that will be consistent and solid that will produce great shots. I now have hope and excitement and no confusion about my backswing, something I have never had. This is one of the best examples as to why The 180 Degree Golf System works and is the only way to change your swing. I spent years confused and frustrated with my backswing but under the proper direction of a very good professional he was able to get me on track right away. I did see very immediate results with this swing change. It is going to take some more time to make it an unconscious automatic backswing but using my techniques in this book with make achieving this in a reasonable amount of time possible. I have a busy life but my system will maximize all time and I soon will have the backswing I have always wanted.
